UFC 121 : Cain Velasquez dominates Brock Lesner to Become The New UFC Heavyweight Champion

Today is a new "era" in the UFC Heavyweight Division.  Cain "The Mexican Terminator" Velasquez have dominated Brock Lesner within the first round of their championship match.  Lesner has to to eat his words when he said "After I win the championship belt (from Cain Velasquez),  I will drink a Corona and eat a burrito ....." I this statement has given Cain more motivation to win.  What do you think?

After appearing in his largest role to date in the blockbuster action movie this year, in Sylvester Stallone’s “The Expendables”, which featured a bevvy of some of the greatest punch-face stars of this generation, including cameos with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, and of course Stallone, Randy held his own when he was featured as one of the main stars of the film, which to date, has grossed a quarter of a billion dollars, world wide.

So, its natural for Couture to want to pursue his movie career while the iron is hot, even though it may be at the expense of mixed martial arts career.

I hope he is made the best decision. Some athletes who switch to acting are not as successful.

If all goes well, however, Bautista hopes to be in the Strikeforce cage by March 2011.

Hope Batista knows what he is getting into, MMA is no longer just pretend.

Three years after being bloodied and beaten in their first fight, Nick Diaz got his revenge against the last man to defeat him,KJ Noons, winning a unanimous decision and retaining his Strikeforce welterweight title on Saturday night.

Diaz was bloodied this time, too, but he was also the more effective fighter for 25 minutes of hard-charging action, weathering some hard punches from Noons and landing plenty of punches of his own. At the end of the fight, which was billed as a grudge match, Diaz and Noons exchanged a hug. They had earned each other’s respect.

“I beat this guy on the ground or standing up,” Diaz said afterward. “I’ll beat this guy in a boxing match but I’ll also tap him out on the ground. … I just want to display my skills to the world because I can do it all.” 

Revenge is sweeter the second time around. If you have not seen the fight here is you chance to see it. Enjoy.

On Tuesday, “MMA Live” host Jon Anik Tweeted that Sonnen would appear on the ESPN2-broadcast show to address the situation. Today, Anik told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio) that would no longer be the case.

“I regret to inform you that Chael Sonnen will actually not be on the show tonight,” Anik said. “Unable to join us. I hate to have to tell you guys that.”

This understandable.

In Episode 2 of “The Ultimate Fighter 12: Team GSP vs. Team Koscheck,” the fighters moved into their new residence, team selections took place, and the season’s first fight ended in a submission…

The episode is interesting, because of some things such as a coach being out smarted - "Well Played" and the principle "Never underestimate your opponent"

As it turns out, Vitor Belfort (19-8 MMA, 8-4 UFC) isn’t injured. And, in fact, he’s expected to meet UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva (27-4 MMA, 12-0 UFC) early next year, possibly in the headliner of a UFC 125 event on Jan. 1 in Las Vegas.

Interesting matchup.

This article is not about what Sonnen did, it’s about the repercussions of his act. You see, a solitary action doesn’t just effect one person, there are unintended consequences. With Sonnen’s failed test, not only will he lose (he’s expected to be suspended for a year and fined, as well as potentially losing his title shot), but there are several others that stand to lose as well.

Former World’s Strongest Man Mariusz Pudzianowski beat up the 450-pound former boxer Eric “Butterbean” Esch Saturday in a freak show fight in Poland’s KSW mixed martial arts organization. Pudzianowski went for a takedown early in the first round and got Butterbean on his back, and from there he went straight into side control and just landed punches to Butterbean’s enormous head until the referee stopped the fight.

In an interview before the fight Butterbean underestimated his opponent. As a result he got beat bad.

Although we have officially entered UFC 119 fight week, it didn’t stop the world’s premier mixed martial arts promotion from announcing the finalized roster for their “UFC 120: Bisping vs. Akiyama” event on October 16th.

The show takes place inside the O2 Arena in London, England and will be headlined by a middleweight clash between Michael Bisping and Yoshihiro Akiyama.  A critical welterweight battle between Carlos Condit and Dan Hardy will serve as the card’s co-main event.

This is a good test for Bisping.
